All Sewn-up

Everything went smooth at the hospital today. They worked like clockwork, the appropriate amount of concern and caring was shown towards me, and my belly feels tight, so I guess they sewed the right pieces together.

Time to rest and heal.

Herald The Arrival

The cat found a comfy place to spend Christmas Eve.

Jamie & Michaela sang wonderfully. Michaela led the Alleluia with Jenna Laska.

Eve Morn

We had a good dinner of lasagna and birthday cake at Grandma & Grandpa Ronyak's last night. And then we exchanged gifts.

This morning I made bacon, eggs, and hash browns with a side of Mom's Christmas cookies. The kids and I had coffee (The kids' with plenty of cream & sugar.) After we were plenty full, we played the TV golf game - it's a good complete activity for this genre of electronic toys. Now the kids are trying out their snowshoes.

The kids will be singing at Mass this evening.

White Christmas

Yesterday was the last delivery day before Christmas. We had good delivery weather during most of the Christmas season this year. Thursday evening brought freezing rain and sleet, Friday - rain, and at about 4:00 PM it turned to snow. It felt just right, maybe like taking a knee for a Super Bowl victory - the weather held off while we were working hard, and then, just as we were finishing the big push, 7-1/2 inches of snow fell, just in time for Christmas.

John had a table full of snacks for us as we pulled in last night. And he also had gifts for us. We, in turn, had pooled our resources for a gift for him. Then we went down to the local watering hole for some Christmas cheer.

This morning I snowblowed the driveway and swept the chimney one more time before my operation (I don't think the doctor will want me on the roof for awhile.)

This evening, we're going to Mom & Dad's for Christmas.

Christmastime Catch-up

Last weekend we had the SpeeDee Christmas Party at Nick & Josie's house.

This past weekend we went to Green Bay for the Packer game.

  • Top is Todd, John, & Nick
  • Middle is Garron, Dave, Doug & Cole
  • Bottom (at the back of the end zone, on the far side) is a fan being arrested for running onto the playing surface - his foot was in the field of play as the PAT was kicked.

Hernia nee groin pull

I thought I had pulled a groin muscle in October. I thought I had pulled it dancing(read: drinking lots of Bud Light and dancing as if I was 21 and in better physical shape(I specifically remember doing The Twist very much, very hard(whether this is a medical possibility, I don't know))) at Mike's wedding. When my groin didn't get better with time, I paid more attention and did some research. The symptom I found on the internet which locked my personal diagnosis was a bulge in my groin when I coughed. I went to the walk-in clinic after work one day last week, and the doctor said that I did indeed have a hernia and I should see a surgeon about it.

Today I saw Dr. Bodensteiner, and he will be able to sew me up after the Christmas rush, and before the insurance turnover at the new year, on Dec. 28th. I will be limited to lifting no more than a gallon of milk for a week - no work, and for a couple of weeks after that about 10 lbs. John, my boss, said we should be able to work around it - that being the slowest part of the year.

We went to Antigo today, for Michaela's Gymnastics Club competition.

She took 1st in Floor, Beam, and Uneven Bars, and 3rd in Vault. And 1st in All-around.
