And you bleed just to know you're alive

The kids and I placed the last two geocaches for The Great Northwoods Treasure Hunt yester-eve and this evening. Its unfamiliar to me to be in the woods at dusk in the late winter. I suppose I'm usually hibernating now.
After tonight's placement, we went to the simple soup supper at Michaela's school. We must have it pretty good. The fresh vegetables - cauliflower, broccoli, carrots- seemed foreign to me without dip or dressing. They must have been busy, because the chicken noodle soup was only broth by the time we got there. But after our hike, bread dipped in broth tasted pretty good. I'll not try to imagine what it tastes like to the homeless, that might bring tears to my eyes.
